At Home in Potato Land

Having the best player can give a team a chance at victory in any contest. With the way that Mason Klabo is coming into his own, Davies will have chances to win a lot more games over the next three and a half years. The task got taller for Moorhead when their formidable big man Adam Jenkins had to sit barely a minute into tonight's game with a pair of fouls. Along with those factors, the Eagles switched to a press that the Spuds had trouble breaking. The combination resulted in Davies building a 30 - 15 lead just seven minutes into the game.

The difference remained in the low to mid-teens until Moorhead rattled off seven straight to get it down to nine late in the half. That lasted as much time as it took to get back to the other end, at which time Klabo scored his 21st points.

That bit of success gave the Spuds the recipe needed to get it even closer. Enter Mekhi Elmore. The senior point guard put Moorhead on his back with a 7 - 0 spurt to make it a two point game. The drama continued to grow as the score drew even but Davies senior standout Ian Motschenbacher then took his game to another level to help keep the Eagles from trailing. They needed every bit of the output as Moorhead got it down to a four-point game in the final minute but weren't able to get it closer.

Mason Klabo filled it up with 36 points while Ian Motschenbacher finished with 21. Ray Brown added 13.

Mekhi Elmore paced Moorhead with 28, 21 in the second half. Adam Jenkins put in 12 of his 14 in the second. Dylan Zimmerman scored 13 of his 17 in the first half.
