Davies Boys

Fall is all but past, which means it's time to start talking about the Winter sports seasons. There are a great many standouts from across the high school landscape who have taken their talents to the next level, Davies is no exception to that. The void that remains will soon be filled by many up & comers, some of whom we already know but even more who will rise across the region. Here's what coach Manson had to say about his latest squad of conference contenders.

As you reflected upon it, is there a highlight or two that stands out from last season?

I’m really excited about the current team that I get a chance to coach in the 2021-22 season. We have a few guards coming back from last year and I’m really excited for people to see them play this year!

Did you take your team to any camps this past Summer?

We play a lot during the summer! I really think it’s important to try and develop players in the off season, specifically during the summer season. We do have a couple of players that will be big surprises for people this year. (Players to watch - Alex Proctor, Raymond Brown, Evan Van Dam, Max Froslie)

Who are some of the players that you anticipate complimenting Ian Motschenbacher & Mason Klabo?

Ian is one of the most talented guards in the state of North Dakota. He is a great scoring guard! He puts a lot of pressure on teams because of his ability to get around people and score in the paint. Mason had a great year last season as an 8th grader. He scored 150 points last year. Mason maturity for now a freshman in high school is remarkable! Mason has a great feel for the game and is an extremely advanced offensive player for his age. Look for Mason and Ian to be a great guard combination this season.

Has the presence of the guard tandem lead to any changes to your philosophies for this season?

We typically play pretty fast and that will continue. I think because we won’t have a lot of size this season we will have to do a better job on the defensive end of the floor.

In what ways do Motschenbacher & Klabo compliment each other's game?

They both play very much alike!

They are always in attack mode offensively, which puts a lot of pressure on opponents.

To boil it all down, what would make the upcoming season a successful one?

The season is boiled down into 3 phases. Phase 1 - regular season. We would love to play well enough to position ourselves for phase 2 - EDC Tournament. You have to play well enough to advance to the state tournament. Phase 3 - Play in the state tournament and try to position ourselves to win a state title.

Thanks again coach!
