The season-long introduction for Horace into varsity competition reached it's toughest note Friday as they faced the top team in the East for the second time. One month ago it was a 44-point game as Davies hit triple-digits for the first time this season. So in that way it would be a similar story as the Eagles cracked 100 for the third time and second straight game.
Without the presence of their UMary-bound big man Max Froslie Davies was exposed a little on the interior by junior Carvin Fish who scored 16 in the first half. That opening was not nearly enough to keep up with the guard tandem of Mason Klabo & Ray Brown, both in the top-15 of the conference in scoring already, as they combined for 45 points before the break.
Klabo continued the process of increasing his conference-high 28 PPG in the second half, getting to 30, then before 40, before toeing the free-throw line and setting a new school record! Then, just one FGA away from an even 50, the second shot miss the mark and his replacement continued to sit in front of the scorers table. He wouldn't have to wait much longer as the ensuing trip to the other end proved to be the last of the night for Klabo. With two+ years still ahead of him, 50 may come but Bart Manson pushed it to a later date. With a 30-point lead and time winding down it was show of good sportsmanship (and saved his star player from a wholly-unnecessary injury a few weeks before the Conference Tournament).
In addition to the 47, Ray Brown tallied 21 while Alpha Camara added 14.
For the Eyas, Carvin Fish scored 19, Moustapha Diomande had 16 (12 in the second half), Isaiah Williams scored 11 & Brady Westphal added 10.
