We are less than four weeks from kickoff for NDSU Football. In preparation for the season, several of the standouts were recognized by national outlets on Preseason All-American lists. Of the select group, Eli Mostaert got the most attention, including being on the Buck Buchanan watch list.

The team was picked to finish second in the Valley.

The basketball teams also made some news with the announcement of the conference schedules. The guys also began a week of fun & play in Costa Rica as the post-Nelson era officially begins.

In Eagan, the Purple felt the first semi-significant sting of the season as defensive tackle James Lynch went down with a torn ACL. He's not an All-Pro or anything like that but he was at least likely to make the 53-man. In his stead on the 90 they signed former first round pick N'Keal Harry. Unless he really shines over the next few weeks he is unlikely to be one of the five or six WRs to make the cut but it's still a defensible signing as KA-M & KO seek to build a roster capable of repeating last season's 13 wins.

From the professional ranks of the Summer Game, Minnesota managed to take five of it's six contests following a sweep by Kansas City. Maybe that was finally the wakeup call that worked as they are now 4.5 games ahead of Cleveland. Being that the team did nothing at the trade deadline, the leadership is banking on that outcome happening.

Fargo's team didn't fare so well, as they dropped six of their seven contests this week to fall a game under .500 and land smack-dab in the middle of the West Division standings.

It was a better story on the lower levels of local baseball

The Fargo Little League team won their opening games in Indianapolis 15 - 1 & 16 - 2. When they take the field again Wednesday it will be on national TV against South Dakota on the Four-Letter! The winner of it will be in the championship while the loser will go Thursday for the chance to make Friday's final.

Moorhead's 14 & 15 year-old teams will try to find similar success as they continue at the national tournaments for their respective ages. Bodes well for the future of Spud baseball!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Post 2 advanced to the Central Plains Region Tournament semi-finals before falling to a very good St. Michael outfit.

With the rest of Fall camps set to open in the coming days it will get much tougher trying to pair down to the top seven sports developments each week, but that will be a good problem!

Recruiting news will also continue to come like a torrent so check out the redesigned area!
