A new addition to the post-game post, to capture the essence in a different way.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Justin Jefferson did it all in the first half then did practically nothing in the second. Can't put the blame for that on him though when the coaches were making more stupid calls. He could have had a 300 yard day but in spite of the moronic he still finished with 124 while catching 7 of his 8 targets.
For the second time this season Dalvin Cook watched from the sideline & Alexander Mattison had a solid day. It took a 48 yard run for him to go from 2.7 yards/run to the 4.5 that he finished with, but as AP taught us, one play can make all the difference. Still would have liked to see AJ Rose get a little bit of work in tandem but a backup who can handle the role on his own is valuable and he's proven to be capable of that several times over now.
Then there's guy who almost single-handedly won this one for Minnesota. Even if Minnesota had had Adam Vinatieri for all his years a guy doing what Joseph did would still deserve top 3 placement. Fans will fret until he makes a playoff kick and then will fret about the possibility of a game-winning kick to advance and then they'll find more to worry about. That's the nature of the situation with the history that the franchise has but Greg Joseph continues to answer the bell as well as anyone could!
Until the final three minutes of the game the defense seemed like a shoe-in for a podium mention. Even with the way things fell apart they merit positive marks for as great as they managed to be at key times. When they were penalized they seemed to come back even better. With only one more game before the bye they could reach even higher heights, and they'll need to with the quality of opponents that are coming soon!
The consistently worst member of the defense has been and continues to be Bashaud Breeland. He doesn't seem fit for Canadian Football but the toilet paper-thin depth at corner this week left them with no other option. It's a mercy that Detroit didn't do a better job exposing him!
But he still found himself in a veritable tie for worst with the play calling, which at so many moments was atrocious. On 3rd & 13+ calling a screen pass when Dalvin Cook is available is a low-conversion probability. Without him that's got no chance of consistently working. But instead of going to either of the all-pro receivers or the emerging Osborn & Westbrook options that was seemingly all they did in those bad down & distance situations. It's gutless decision making and ultimately put them in the position where they deserved to lose. Maybe it's all on Kubiak or maybe Zimmer is trying to sabotage, there are plenty of rabbit hole theories that could be explored but five games in the calls should be better than they were today.
To put it a different way, killer instinct does not apply to this team and it's a shame because the roster has enough talent to beat anyone.
