Bison

You can see my take aways from win number two for the Bison Football team.

Due to the hurricane there were a couple of cancellations late in the week but not everything on the schedule was wiped out. The women's Golf team lead off the week with a two day "battle" in which they finished second. Senior Emma Groom was the top individual finisher for NDSU.

The Volleyball team managed to get one of their three schedule events in but fell to TCU, 3 - 0. Which left the Cross Country teams as the only remaining competitors this week.

Kelby Anderson was the top finisher for the lady runners with a fourth place finish while Evan Kottsick was the best of the men. Barring more weather related cancellations, the week ahead should be much more full.

Dragons

MSUM's week started with a sixth place finish out in Bemidji by the Golf team. On the heels of that came an 0-3 in Volleyball against Northern State. In other words, the week started out less than stellarly for the Dragons but improved from there.

Both the Soccer and Volleyball teams managed to take care of business on Friday, 3 - 2 & 3 - 1 respectively. It only got better from there as the Football team won 42 - 28 over Northern State on Saturday. Lead by Jakup Sinani's three passing touchdowns & Zach Simons' two rushing scores, the fire breathers jumped out early and never looked back!

The Volleyball team had an encore Saturday and made it two in a row with a 3 - 2 victory before the Soccer team fell to Mary 1 - 0. If those sorts of results can become the norm, Autumn will get all the better around here!

Cobbers

Concordia kicked it off with a trio on Wednesday that did not go their way. Both Soccer teams and the Volleyball squad fell 3 - zip before the bump, set, spiker's split a Friday night in Eau Claire, 3 - 1 Cobs then 3 - 0 Lakeland. The same rang true on Saturday with the only difference being that they didn't give up a point in their win.

Elsewhere on Saturday both Soccer teams lost by a single goal each. The men went down 1 - 0 while the women fell 3 - 2. And of course there was the main attraction, the Football team.

262 yards and four scores, those are the stats that Rylie Sheridan & Dane Ringquist piled up. They got all that in a mere 14 total carries no less, split right down the middle. The offense all but ignored the idea of passing the ball, but why would you do anything else when handing off is working that well! The one touchdown that the Cobbers did allow didn't come until the score was 48 - 0 so it only mattered aesthetically. For good measure the Cobbs tacked on two field goals to complete the scoring. I wonder at what point the Auggies realized that it wasn't their day. I'm thinking when Concordia had em 21 - 0 with five & a half minutes remaining in the first quarter, but that's just a guess. Point is, they left no doubt about the win from the earliest possible time and provided a very positive end to the school's sporting week!

High School Sports

As always, you can see the week's photos from games around the region in the gallery section.

As for the Football game of the week, Northern Cass came to Oak Grove.
