The two teams that have gone head-to-head for conference supremacy going back several years now each came into this season with a Northern Sun bound player but many question marks beyond. In the second game of the year they reignited the rivalry.
The East tournament champs jumped out to an 11-4 which held steady for most of the half. When Davies would close the gap, Sheyenne responded and after the Mustangs went up by 10 the Eagles responded in kind. After 18 minutes Sheyenne was ahead 33-26.
Six minutes into the second half Davies had full erased the gap, pulling even at 42. But even without Jacksen Moni who had to sit early in the half after being call for his fourth foul, the Mustangs managed to avoid falling behind.
The four minute stretch from 9:28 to 5:30 all-but sealed the outcome as Sheyenne pushed it from 50-46 to 60-50. Davies only scored one less point the rest of the way but couldn't get any more stops than they were forced into to make up the difference once again.
Sheyenne 75, Davies 64
Davis Latrel finished with the game-high, 25, while Ian Motschenbacher added 14. Brady Sauvageau rounded out the double-digit scorers for Davies with 11.
Jah'Heem Leake led Sheyenne's five top scorers with 18. Ben Manson finished with 14 while Dominic Dosmann, James Hagen & Kaleb Larson went 12, 11, 10.
