Talk of halftime adjustments can be cliché in sports, but at times it is undeniably true. Thursday evening, when the Otters visited the Spuds for boys basketball, was just such an occasion.

Both Moorhead and Fergus Falls went back and forth with each other over the first 18 minutes, with defense and some errors leading to a rock-fight score ~ 22-21 in favor of the home team.

Then the adjustments came into play. Moorhead quickly built on their one-point lead with some splashes from beyond the arc. As a team with high aspirations this Winter, the pressure fell on the Otters to respond instead of rolling over. In line with all other players, big Chance Fazio had a low-scoring first half but he also busted through the wall early in the second as Fergus Falls rallied to tie the game at 37. They kept it rolling with a 13-4 spurt. Brady Walthall kept firing away from deep to keep Moorhead within striking distance, but each time Fergus managed to have an answer on their own end until there wasn't enough time left to comeback.

Moorhead 60, Fergus Falls 73

Fazio finished with a game-high 24 of seven different scorers. Second for Fergus was Abel Aho with 15, 10 in the second half, while Dominic Aguilar added 12.

18 of Brady Walthall's team-high 23 came in the second half. His team finished with eight different players contributing on offense. Second was Mekhi Elmore with 12 while Trey Feeney chipped in 10.
