The reigning champs for Section 8AAA will return to the field with that bullseye but a great deal of experience as they pursue a repeat. Owen Leach is the most well-known member of the team but opponents will also have to deal with the dual-threat that Jordan Summers can be. The Rebels defense projects to be equally as tough and should help lead to some lop-sided victories this season.
Here's what coach Soderberg had to say about his team
Before talking about the present, are there any highlights from last Fall that stand out for you in reflection?
Great group of kids. Made the season fun and a lot of returning players with only 7 seniors last year.
How would you describe what Owen Leach brings to your team?
Owen is a competitor. He is important on both sides of the ball and gives us flexibility on the defensive side of the ball. He has to be accounted for in the run game which slows the opposing defense down and he can sling it.
Are there position groups that you already have identified as strengths of your roster?
Our football team returns a good mix of starters on both sides of the ball from last year’s district and section championship team. We will be especially strong at OL/DL and RB/LB.
Players to watch
Bryce Fischer - OL/DL
Landon Morkassel - RB/DB
Brody O’ Keefe - TE/DL
Brody Friend - TE/LB
Caleb Johnson - TE/LB
Is there anything else you would like people to know about your team going into the season? We return a lot of experience up front and at the skill positions on both sides of the ball. We have a couple of holes to fill like any year, but we have the kids to do that. The strength of this team will be on defensive side of the ball, especially on the defensive line and linebacker levels. If we stay healthy and come togethers as a team, I expect we will have a good season. The kids are pumped!
