Spudtacular

After all the years of watching sports one thing is clear - every game is it's own experience. The mistakes and magnificent efforts in one will not be duplicated in another.

Each is it's own story.

And the story of Moorhead vs. Bemidji was the Spuds taking advantage of mistakes more often.

They began with Jonah Horan collecting a fumble and taking it in for the first touchdown of the night. If not for ball security issues Bemidji would have had a better chance to hang with the high-powered Feeney offense but even as the Lumberjacks endeavoured to keep the game competitive Jett Feeney spread the ball around like a seasoned veteran to make it 42-14 with barely one minute gone in the third quarter. Their advantaged reached that following a 75-yard catch and run on the first play of the second half.

In addition to the scoop and score Zak Walker returned an interception to the five yard line to make the points-off-turnovers total 13 in the game. The Orange and Black may have been just fine without those additional chances but 29-14 may have been even closer had Bemidji kept the turnover margin equal.

But coulda, woulda, shoulda is not the takeaway

The takeaway is that the Young Tubers are not waiting for a future season to be a contender in the state, they're on a mission to dominate every Friday this Fall!

Moorhead 57, Bemidji 28

The conductor of the orchestra is only as good as the musicians but the receivers need him as much as he needs them.
