Three Weeks Out

With the roster having more holes than a truck-load of cheese wheels and a dearth of draft picks to fill them it's been a challenge to get excited for this draft.

Then came a free agency that added as many probable key players as any FA period in the franchise's history! Kwesi is still eventually going to have to hit on at least half of the selections in a draft but that proposition is eased by so many of the positions having a presumptive A player ready to go.

So the typical offseason marathon will be more like a 5K this year, which can also be enjoyable!

And as an added bonus, we'll get to see some possible landing spots for the latest best of the Bison

With three weeks to go let's get the mock drafting going!

As may happen during the real Thursday, the 24th pick was sought-after by teams looking to get back into the first round or just get higher. Each of the three hypothetical offers included second round picks next year with Buffalo offering the 30th while San Fran checked-in with 43 & 75. It was Vegas that got the money with 37 & next year's two, with three picks in the early 200s added as sweetener, for the 24th.

That meant skipping out on potential contributors at OL & CB but those are not as dire of needs as they were at the end of the season. The most needy spot on the roster is safety but Georgia's Malaki Starks went 12th to Miami while South Carolina's Nick Emmanwori was pegged to Pittsburgh. So yes, it stings to once again not get a Bison into the mix (Zabel landed with Darnold) it made it easier to fill spots toward the 90 and add the third best safety on the board

Xavier Watts (Notre Dame)

Aside from that, the team can got just about any direction it wants during all three days, adding whoever they think are the best fits, have the biggest upsides. That will make it even more unpredictable of a draft to follow (and project) but it's exciting!

At the 97th, receiver, edge and running back Cam Skattebo were considered before settling on another guy to help wall-up in front of McCarthy. All three positions will see fresh faces at the facility but with the depth of backs in this draft class and the quality of players already with Minnesota each can wait til much later or after the draft to be addressed.

Dylan Fairchild (Georgia)

As far as need goes, cornerback would now take precedent but every spot on the defense was considered for the 139. Oregon's Jeff Bassa could be in play as a depth LB but Sai'vion Jones (LSU) could bring some Hunter back into the mix!

For 187 it seemed prudent to add an understudy for O'Neill & Darrisaw

Jalen Rivers (Miami)

DT Aeneas Peebles (Va. Tech) is also worthy keeping an eye on

Now comes the pay-off for the trade

I went with Luke Lachey (Iowa TE) at 213, Mello Dotson (Kansas CB) at 215 and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (Georgia DT) at 222.

Turning four picks into nine and then spreading the wealth would be a great continuation of what has been a banner offseason, building upon the stellar regular season. It's all hoping and speculation but that's what makes the draft so attractive!

Must note that according to this, Cam Miller went undrafted.

Each time will present different opportunities, factoring in the latest information as it becomes available. So be sure to like, follow & subscribe to avoid missing out!
