It's mid-week, that means it's time to mock draft!
Here is last week's edition.
Now onto the new one
For the first time in the two months that these simulations have been run Justin Fields was available when pick 14 came around. In line with the theme of this one, he was considered but instead the latest bruiser from Alabama was the pick, RB Najee Harris.
At 78 there were even more players considered but linebacker Chazz Surratt, UNC, was chosen.
12 picks later it was time to add another playmaker. Several cornerbacks were available but then focus fell upon Tylan Wallace OK State to join the receiving corp.
With the 119th pick I chose QB Jamie Newman from Georgia.
125 went as another addition to the defense - DE Hamilcar Rashed Jr., Oregon St..
Make that two-in-a-row for Zimmer's crew when I picked safety James Wiggins, Cincinnati.
Two became three with a selection of DT Tedarrell Slaton from Florida.
Back on offense, another player to help improve the offense - WR Marlon Williams, UCF.
With the second to last pick the priority became to add another possibility for the team's leader, QB Davis Mills (Stanford).
With the final choice of the picks that Minnesota currently possesses adding a specialist was strongly considered just to really drive the theme of this one home. But that should already be the case so you all were spared that little bit of foolishness.
Went back to Orlando with 199 for cornerback Tay Gowan.
If you didn't stop reading several lines earlier, I applaud you!
Now here's the main point:
I know it's March 31 but inspired by the joke of a signing that the team made for real yesterday, latitude was granted.
More than a joke even, this is the nightmare version of the draft for the Purple.
So yeah, thanks for sticking with it all the way!
