Game 1

The squeak of the shoes

The pounding of the balls

It's the music of the game and it finally came back!

More than the final score or any of the stats that was the main takeaway as the Oak Grove girls crossed University to play South's.

As for the game, it started it like many of the rest could have tonight or will tomorrow. It took a few minutes but after the rust started coming off, the difference in talent level between the teams was unmistakable.

In the early going the Grovers came back from a 9-2 deficit to tie the game a third of the way through the half. That turned out to be the poke that the Bears needed as they reeled off 32 points while only surrendering eight before heading back to the locker rooms.

After the break they built on the 24 point lead with the crescendo coming just after the mid-point of the half. Up 72-32, coach Smedshammer did what any coach in his position would do - rotate out the starters and get the reserves playing time.

Oak Grove followed suit in using the rest of the time to gain experience, but they did so with many of the girls that started the game. In so doing, they managed to avoid a double-up and made the final score much closer than it otherwise would have been.

South 78, Oak Grove 45

The Bruins finished with four players in double-figures.

Lead by Adie Wagner's 23, Sami Hoselton (11) and Brynn Nelson & Paige Schroeder (10 each) helped provide some balance.

Ella Olson's nine points paced the way for the Grovers.

Hustle plays never get old!
