The opinion since the last draft was that this would be the one to use for a replacement at backup. Nothing against Alexander Mattison but it's tough to justify paying big bucks to one back, two cannot be done.
Enter Ty Chandler!
At 5'11 204 he's got the size to withstand the sorts of hits he will encounter. In addition to that, his 4.38 speed & 31" vertical will help him avoid some of that contact.
He was a solid player for his first four years at Tennessee but broke out in a major way after transferring to North Carolina with more than 1/3 of his total career yardage (nearly 1,100) & half of his total career touchdowns (13). He also continued to be a solid option through the air with at least 10 receptions every year, including 15 for 216 yards during his final season.
There is nothing to dislike about this selection!
