FEATURED

Pick 66

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

With their fourth and final (at least for now) pick of the evening Minnesota added a defender from the offense conference. As they make the transition to a 3-4 defense Brian Asamoah is exactly the sort of player they will need to get pressure on passers & ball-carries as well as be able to play sideline-to-sideline!

But don't just take my word for it:

Measuring at 6' 226 with 32.625" arms & 10" hands he ran a 4.56 40-yard dash while hitting 36.5 on the vertical & 124" on the board jump. During his college career he had TFLs all three seasons and showed a capacity in coverage during his second season with 4 passes defensed. Over the last two years only one touchdown came against his coverage in 569 snaps. That would be a great stat if he played against run-exclusive offenses, that's unheard of in that conference! He also got more adept at stripping the ball away over the years while racking up tackles, 56 solo his final year. He finished as the leading tackler for Oklahoma over each of the last two seasons.

If he successfully brings the same level of impact to Eagan that he did in Norman he will be a starter sooner than later.
