Back on the Billboard

This season's journey to the postseason and Frisco, Texas has 12 pre-scheduled stops, with only one break between now & late November. There will be twists, turns & trouble along the route but through it all the Herd will make progress. Following each game this will be the only place to find the thoughts about it. As great as the destination can be, enjoy the weekly pit stops along the way!

A year removed from the Birds getting their championship the Big Bad Bison were back to trampling from the Tri-State to Pembina and the Theodore Roosevelt.

To put it simply, it's the Bison State again!

The claiming of the territory finished with one primary development - Cam Miller.

In his three quarters of work before exiting with a foot or ankle issue he was once again in command of the action, adding two more touchdowns to his player of the year candidacy while maintaining the goose egg in the turnover column.

The only other thing he has yet to do this season is pile up yards but his 277 against Colorado could be eclipsed in two weeks.

With Raja Nelson rejoining his crew of pass catchers for the first time since Boulder the opportunity to frustrate defensive coordinators is that much more inflated. With 16 completions to 10 different guys it's becoming like Thanksgiving in New York City out there!

No matter how much the passing game is allowed to breath, Charmar Brown will keep things in balance as he has solidified his place as the lead back with 21 of the 45 totes.

Said a few weeks ago that he's becoming the best one since Crockett and that's only been validated since. He didn't eclipse the 100-yard mark but 83 is a good number and came without a single lost yard, which is hard to do by the defense.

Would not blame them if they felt some envy for having to watch Code Green all day either. Romfo was only sacked once and the Bison defense finished with just four tackles for loss but two fumble recoveries aided in limiting them to 17 points on just 14 first downs. They were able to turn those 140 yards into 267 but the winners were 25 for 429 and more is still better.

As fun as it was to have players like Kyle Emanuel and Marcus Williams, this defense does it with the whole being better than the sum of the parts. While they will need breakout performances at different times during the rest of the journey they showed yet again that non-flashy can work extremely well!

And the result of it all is that the Bison are back where they belong

Whose state?
