Coming Up Short

The journey to Texas has 11 pre-scheduled stops with only one break between now & late November. There will be twists, turns & trouble along the route but through it all the Herd will progress. Following each game that progress will be analyzed. As great as the destination is, enjoy the weekly pit stops along the way!

There will be plenty of discussion this week about Cam Miller but if the defense had met the same level that they showed during the first three games then he & the offense would have been in a much better position.

That isn't to say that they were bad because 24 points scored is a good number in today's college football. They just weren't able to secure a matching turnover or sack Bouman, finished with a measly 3 TFLs.

I'm hesitant to say that the Bison were out-coached but they were outperformed until it was too late in the game. Now it falls on the coaches to figure out what changes must be made, how to root-out the flaws that lead to South Dakota out-classing them. It can't be regarded as a one-week fix or it will pop again at an even more inauspicious time. Fortunately they have two more weeks until their next big game.

I know they can't think of Missouri State that way but Dem Bears will finish in the cellar of the conference so it is a partial bye week.

There is probably more which merits mentioning but for a game that would fit right in with many of the ones from the Dacotah Field era, the pickings are slimmer than usual & being redundant is as annoying to write as it is to read.

Until next Saturday...
