On a day set aside to recognize & honor the brave men & women who sacrifice so much so that we can live, the future of many young athletes took gigantic steps forward.
First up, the least heralded due to the lack of visibility. NDSU's Women's ⛳️ added three to their roster. From Green Bay, Jo Baranczyk; from Grafton, WI Elise Hoven & from Lake City, MN Ava Wallerich. A common thread for all of them, years of sustained success at the prep level.
On the Men's side, two became official members of the Herd. Josh Galvin will be coming up from Maple Grove while Ian Simonich is making the short drive across the river from Moorhead. As with their feminine counterparts, those two had several years of quality play on courses near & far and will benefit from their many years of work in the best way!
NDSU wasn't the only local college to add new recruits. Moorhead State had six players make their commitments official today for the ⚽️ team. Three of the new players will hale from the Dragons backyard as Hayley Hanson is coming from South while Ally Peters & Liana Ulness are joining from Moorhead. The other three will be coming from Omaha, Emma Caito; Bemidji, Liberty Dickerson & New Brighton, Greta Saylor.
North Fargo also added six new members to their ⚽️ team. Olivia Watson headlines the group as the one local addition while three of the others will join out of the Twin Cities. Josie Fieldman (Minnetonka), Bella Grandbois (New Hope) & Loretta Wacek (St. Paul) helped fill Mike Regan's roster. The remaining two are from the South/West. Katie Pagel is coming from Aurora, CO & Gabby Sangillo is from Goodyear, AZ.
One shy of that number, NDSU 🏐 found players from across the prairie to join up. From Sioux Falls, Raegan Reilly; from Willmar, Abby Stark; from Eagan, Abby Moe; from Waukesha, WI - Alexis Boling & Clarion, Iowa, Morgan Middleton.
The Dragons matched that number for their Softball program. From Queen Creek, AZ - Emma Abbott; from Centralia, MO - Ella Holiman; from Merrill, WI - Hannah Losee; from Columbia, MO - Eliyah McCarthy & from Geneva, IL - Annika Norman.
NDSU also added to theirs, but with only two. Savy Williams will be making the familiar trip North from Frisco in hopes of continuing the strong legacy of pitchers while Chloe Woldruff is an infielder from Lisbon, Iowa.
Which only leaves the 🏀
Jory Collins continued to make his imprint upon the women's program with three new signings. The Kubas family tradition continues as Abbey Kubas signed her Letter of Intent from Dickinson Trinity. Guard Ellie Dague will be coming to town from Henning. And Forward Katie Hildebrandt is coming from McFarland, WI.
Karla Nelson added five members to her team as well. With the farthest of the five traveling from Beaver Dam, WI they really put the Minnesota in their name. Natalie Jens is the aforereferenced, by the way. From Brooten, MN - Allisa Knight; from Plainview - Macy Holtz; from Lakeville - Lizzie Berkvam & from St. Louis Park - Raegan Alexander.
As for the men, Dave Richman's squad registered the singular addition. In the tradition of many NDSU (& mid-major) big men, Andrew Morgan doesn't have all the measurables, but he is well regarded & may prove to be a steal in the future.
UPDATE 11/12
NDSU 🤼 added a recruit for every day of the week. The paperwork coming in started with Clay Radenz from Bismarck Century. Next up was Lathan Duda from Broken Bow, NE. Then came Spencer Mooberry from Osage, IA. Fourth in was Beau Klingensmith from Kingsley, IA. Number five is Cole Gripka from Weatherby, MO. From Arden Hills, MN - Mannix Morgan was the sixth. And then from the West Coast, Carlos Negrete signed from Clovis, CA.
Moorhead State's men's 🏀 added four officials as well. From Elkhorn, WI - guard Jordan Johnson; from Davies - forward Owen Hektner & from Fergus Falls - seven-footer Chance Fazio. They concluded with a familiar name to the program adding guard Eddie Beeninga from Maple Grove.
The Dragons kept it rolling as the running sports added Derek Hanson from Cecil, WI for distance events.
NDSU also chipped in with an Olympic sport competitor, Ellen Donat is staying home to compete after her already decorated time at Davies is complete.
The Fire-Breathers closed out the second-wave of announcements with Tia Dykema from Osakis for the 🎾 team and Abby Thompson for 🏐 from Chisholm, MN.
You may notice that not many extra details were included. That was by design. You can go through the links to find out much more about many the commits, but this was for the purpose of recognizing the step being taken by each & every one of them.
