SR: Four-Corners

During the workdays, the Herd got notifications of two kinds, on either end of the spectrum.

On Wednesday, senior running back Adam Cofield announced that he would be transferring in hopes of garnering a better professional opportunity. The timing of the decision is curious, but I think it goes to show that he isn't doing it on a whim. As for the personal aspirations, it's no secret that running back has been the least successful of the regular positions to go from Fargo up so I can understand why he would go.

As for the good news, that came on Friday as Waseca, MN big man Andrew Morgan committed to playing 🏀 at the SHAC. He isn't the most highly recruited guy to take the court but he did have an offer by Iowa so he may be foregoing other suiters with the choice to join the Summit League champs!

Fargo 🏒 got back on the ice yesterday in Sioux Falls. Lead by two goals from Fargo native Cade Stibbe, the Force took the exhibition 5-3.

The two teams will rematch on Thursday in Fargo!

This is a week that people will talk about for a LONG time!

I'm talking years of conversation will center around what took place on the high school level this week. And it won't be for the reason that you may think.

It started with regular-season finales being spread out over several days and locally, going fanless at most games. On Friday night, Shanley was at Davies for an essential game in figuring out the playoff seeding.

Then, yesterday, Northern Cass was at Oak Grove for the conclusion of both teams' seasons, in front of the last crowd that we will have for the immediate future in Fargo or West Fargo.

And then came the defining news of the week.

In contrast to many of his peers, Emmet Kenney has chosen to keep his recruitment mostly low-key. But then came the offer from his dream school and the announcement was made - the history-making kicker will be among the Trees in Palo Alto. He's going to Stanford. He's going to STANFORD! Politics and viewpoints aside, that is a gigantic accomplishment from a school that has done a very good job with's talent acquisition going back many years.

The fact that we're in a golden age for sports in the area was written about last Spring but it's proving to be even more true than previously expressed! Don't take it for granted.
