Vikings
Third straight win to make it a 5-2 season, check out the S or N!
Bison
The women's Golf team ended their Fall schedule with an eighth-place finish in Tacoma early in the week.
The Volleyball team hosted North Dakota and won 3-1.
On Friday the Soccer team had a mutual shutout against Fort Wayne shortly after the Winter fan day at the SHAC. Nothing really needs to be conveyed from that but it served as the excuse to drop the Bison Basketball preview, so go check that out! đ
On Green Rush Saturday the Bison Football team had it's most sloppy performance of the year but completed the shutout victory. Check the S or N if you want any more thoughts! Saturday also included the Cross Country teams hitting the course in Grand Forks with quality results by both the men & the women.
To close out the week the men's Golf team teed off in North Carolina. The Soccer team defeated Western Illinois 2-1 with second-half goals by Laura Powell & Danielle Algera. With the win they remain in the third spot in the Summit, behind only SDSU & UND. Volleyball also kept itself in the top four mix with a 3-2 win over ORU.
Then came the news that I did not expect - game day is traveling to Brookings for the Dakota Marker game on Saturday. So if you are keeping track at home, that will be three features of NDSU on the premier college Football show to zero by "big brother" in the Twin Cities! đ So green up again and make the drive down I-29 next weekend.
Dragons
Mid-October Golf in the upper heartland is only for the most hardcore. The Dragons closed out the 2019 portion of their season with a third-place finish in Missouri to start the week.
The Volleyball team faced Mary on Tuesday and came away with a 3-1 win. They returned to the court on Friday against Upper Iowa but lost by the same score. Then came Winona State on Saturday but that one ended 3-0.
The Soccer team got a 1-0 win on Friday over Wayne State thanks to Lindsey Brownell. The aquathletes had the MSUM duals this weekend and managed some good results.
The Football team was mollywhopped by Augustana 48-3 and then the Soccer team closed out the week against Auggie but fell 3-0.
Cobbers
Tuesday and Wednesday the Soccer teams traveled to St. Thomas but each lost 1-0.
On Friday the aquathletes went to St. Mary's but came up a few points shorts. Within the numbers, the Cobbers won eight events on Friday and tacked on another six successes on Saturday.
Elsewhere on Saturday, the men's Cross-Country team finished in fourth while the women took fifth in Grand Forks. The Soccer teams were also in Winona but both lost again, with the guys falling 2-1 and the women losing 1-0 in double OT. Back at home the Volleyball team hosted Augsburg but lost 3-1.
Timberwolves
The Pups ended the pre-season with a lopsided loss in Milwaukee but more importantly, the team is healthy. Whether they're talented enough to win into the 30's or dare say 40+ games this year remains to be seen. Any shot of that would require defensive efforts every single night unlike what has commonly been seen on the court in these parts. All the talk of philosophy & togetherness and blah blah blah won't mean jack if the team continues to stink. Yeah, I'm more than a little negative about it but I'll still watch & root for them to win every time they come out of the tunnel.
Force
The October ease-in continued for the Force with one game this week. It turned out to be a great match as the Force made it two in a row with a 4-3, overtime win over Sioux Falls. With his second goal of the evening, Nick Strom found the inside of the net to close out the contest. From here their schedule starts to compress significantly from what it has been.
High School Sports
Flashback all the way to Wednesday, Sheyenne had a showdown against Davies with major implications in the EDC. The results been long out but maybe you missed the images, so check it out!
