Bison Basketball started out West with the men at WIU and the women in Fort Wayne. The ladies were lead by Rylee Nudell with another double-double (14/10) while Ryan Cobbins & Emily Dietz added 10 each to take them most of the way to their 58 - 44 win. The guys got 16 from Tyson Ward & 15 from Vinnie Shahid & Rocky Kreuser. The Track teams went from January to February in Minneapolis with more success by both the men & the women. The Wrestling team started the second month in Northern Colorado with a 25 - 12 win. The Basketball teams traded places which didn't fare the best for the women as they lost 86 - 79 while the men gave up a double-digit halftime lead and fell behind 7 briefly, only to storm back over the final 7 minutes and win 71 - 60. 22 from Shahid & 20 from Cameron Hunter were accompanied by another 13 from Ward to bring their conference record to 7-2 while they continue to get healthy with the return of Jared Samuelson and Sam Griesel. The pieces are starting to come together!

Moorhead started with a 38 - 3 loss against St. Cloud St. by the Wrestling team. On Friday the Track team traveled to Grand Forks and pulled off a 6-pack of wins. Back in Moorhead the Basketball teams swept a four-game set against Mankato & Concordia. The women eeked out game 1 66 - 63 and game 3 67 - 66 with the latter lead coming on a shot that reminded me of Kawhi's winner over Philly. Both wins were largely due to heavy lifting by Megan Hintz, Peyton Boom & Sarah Jacobson with Nicole Herbranson adding in considerably against Kato. The men had an easier time with double-digit victories in both of their chances, 88 - 63 & 85 - 72. Gavin Baumgartner went for 23+ in both while his teammates added in pretty equally to the victories. Also on Saturday the aqua team won 503 to 303 against Concordia Moorhead while the Tennis team took care of Hamline 7 - 0.

Concordia started with a pair of losses at Carleton, 83 - 60 by the men and 53 - 50 by the women. On Friday the Hockey teams were against Bethel and won two different ways. The men got goals from Jacen Bracko & Aaron Herdt and weathered the third-period storm to win. The women got a 3 - 1 lead in the first period and added another four in the third to win 7 - 1 from seven different players. The Wrestling team made it a spotless day, 36 - 12 over St. John's. On Saturday the Basketball teams split against St. Mary's with the men losing 78 - 62 while the women won 76 - 60 in a game which featured none of the Cobbers exceeding 11 points. In the rematch, the men's Hockey team made it a sweep 3 - 1 but the women finished on the wrong end of a 2 - 0 final. Herdt added another while Tyler Bossert & Blake Berg sandwiched with first and third period scores. Both the men's & women's Tennis teams were at Crown and swept, 9 - 0 & 9 - 0. The Track teams joined Moorhead State in Grand Forks and finished with second place by the men but not quite as good of results by the women. The Tennis team tasted the dish they served up as they closed the week against Carleton, losing 0 - 9.

Fargo had a twofer in Green Bay. On Friday they won from wire-to-wire as Joseph Dunlap scored first and scored last while Tristan Broz & Mason Salquist added 1 each. Green Bay made it a 3-2 game in the second period but Dunlap answered after only 12 seconds and the defense did just enough to hold onto the win, 4 - 3. Saturday was a different story as Green Bay reeled off four goals in a row to win 5 - 2

Started the week with boys Basketball as Devils Lake was at South on Tuesday. On Friday night Red River was at Davies in another top test by the Eagles then on Saturday morning Barnesville faced Park Christian as part of the Heart O'Lakes showcase in a game that was everything I thought it could be. As always, brief recaps and photos of all three games.
