SR: Bummer Summer Begins

While everyone continues to wonder whether the big season opener will happen or not the team took some of the mystery away this week with the announcement of a slew of game times. In case you missed it:

Drake 2:30pm

NC A&T 2:30pm

Illinois St 1pm

Indiana St 6pm

SDSU 2:30pm

Youngstown St 2:30pm

Missouri St 2pm

UND 2:30pm

Which leaves Oregon, UNI & USD left to be known. It's not a lot to chew on, but these days we all have to take what we can get!

The highest level of ⚾️ continues to get in it's own way while 🏀 , 🏈 & 🏒 keep on marching toward the resumption or start of their seasons. It's not Minnesota's fault any more than the other 29 but they are among the most negatively affected because of the team they had put together and the adverse situation that November and beyond would create for trying to play the game within hundreds of miles of their field.

As with the rest of the pro franchises in the Twin Cities, the Wolves have been vocal about the events of the last two weeks but they took a step this week that set them apart from the others. Come November all employees of the men's and women's franchises will be given election day off as a company holiday. As an effort to promote that form of expression it's one of the best things that they've done since their inception. As an aside, it was pretty shrewd public relations to make the announcement right after it was confirmed that their season was over. More will come about that last part as a postmortem and in examination of the next steps for the squad but for now, I'm just appreciating some good news!

The turbulent season for Shanley with their coaches may have finally concluded this week as their girls 🎾 coach handed in his letter of resignation. That came on the heels of the other North Dakota posh sport having their Spring championship. Local ⛳️ was well represented on both the girls and boys side, in A & B. Shanley's Jacob Skarperud finished 7 strokes ahead of the next best while Ty Satter finished in a three-way tie for sixth at 12 over. In B boys, Oak Grove & Kindred healed down five of the top six finishes led by Grover Grayson Wetch at 1 over. Kindred also had the second-best finisher as Avery Bartels was four strokes behind in the girls B tournament.

Then in the last few hours, Ryleigh Wacha committed to UMary so she'll play plenty more games in the area, even if the ones right across the river will be as a rival.
