FEATURED

Sunday 7 (ish)

It was a low-key week on the old sports landscape but true-to-form, the Purple were able to generate an excess of drama as Green Bay made it's annual pilgrimage to civilization.

With 9:18 left in the game Minnesota had a 27-10 lead. Seven minutes of game-time later and it was down to two points.

There's always something to refine and the causes behind that collapse must be at the top of the list with the regular season finale on the horizon.

The first reason for it could have been getting worn-down by extended time between the lines but the Purple had a 12 minute advantage in that department, so the veteran-heavy defense should still have been able to function well.

It could just get chalked-up to Jordan Love finding more of a groove when it was most needed as he was 12/18 in the second half. That's not a MVP ratio but certainly would help a team fighting to comeback.

Whatever the reason behind it, Green Bay showed why they might be a problem to a home team in the playoffs while Minnesota kept it's chance to being the preeminent home team breathing for one more week.

It was their current best test of the season and they passed. Plenty more minute details that can be sifted through but don't miss the big picture while handling the microscope!

Moorhead State's Jack Strand is a close second fiddle as he was named a D2 All-American.

Football kept making waves as SDSU's Jimmy Rogers took the head job at Washington State. He continued to steer the ship well enough but the small sample size of two seasons could come back to bite them while the turnover in Brookings is all sorts of welcome as the wait for the Championship Kickoff continues.

To the light-load of winter action, Fargo traded with Dubuque for defenseman Cullen McCrate

NDSU also chipped-in as both basketball teams concluded non-conference play.

The men continued their torrid effort on both ends, beating Cal. St. Bakersfield by 34 while the women edged Dakota Wesleyan by nine.

The Cobber men were back in action down Texas way, losing to Mary Hardin-Baylor despite getting 25 & 14 from Jackson Loge.

In Kentucky the women faced Washington & Lee, winning by 11 as Carlee Sieben scored 25.

Onto 2025!
