With two games to go the Force separated themselves from all previous teams with their 49th win of the season, most in USHL history. What's better, they can clear the big 5-0 at home Friday in the last home date!

From that oh-so-positive note to the other end of the spectrum, it was a tough week for NDSU women's basketball. Long anticipated, Elle Evans officially took the step to move to a higher level of competition. There was some hope that she may be the first to do what several Jacks players have done and stay to become an all-time great but that was going to take a lot. So Jory Collins will have to be back at the whiteboard working to make up for the loss of his two best players.
That came as UND got an intra-conference transfer from Grafton by way of Vermillion to make the task that much steeper. Walker Demers going closer to home is just the latest North Dakotan & Northern Minnesotan to bypass Fargo. Yes, he got Miriley Simon and she translated well in year one but that's a far cry from what Grand Forks has managed to put together from the region. Of course he wants the best players but getting the best and closest players can payoff even more.

There was some good news for the guys across the parking lot from the SHAC as Carson Wentz signed a one-year contract to be the backup in Kansas City. It means he will effectively get no time on the field again this season but he could be a trade target and at worst gets a year with Andy Reid so it's a good outcome.

They weren't able to secure the spot themselves but April Fools ended with the Timberwolves securely in the top six and the week concluded with them cruising past the former Minnesota outfit. With it they can finish the season in no-worse than the third playoff spot. Home court advantage with much more still to be secured!

It's also noteworthy that Spring sports didn't have any delays to the start of their seasons. In the history of Purple Bizon Sports that might be a first. Even if it's happened before it's certainly not the norm so good for those young men & women!

The week also included the announcements for NDSU & Moorhead State to conclude their Spring football action. They will both take place April 20th with the Bison going first.

Much could change over the remaining 95+% of the season but it's been a disappointing start for Minneapolis' Boys of Summer as they split with Milwaukee before losing a weather-shortened set to Cleveland. If there is a single thread through the games it's that the offense will need to pick it up to capitalize on the weak conference. And just to be redundant, there is plenty of time for that to happen. They just didn't have it this week.

Not the best week for the Fargo area sports scene but that just means there is room for improvement!
