From the Eastern side of the river D/G/F softball and both of Moorhead's lacrosse teams are among the dwindling number with games remaining.

The Timberwolves joined the ranks of the eliminated in disheartening fashion after forcing a fifth game against Dallas. The ending doesn't cancel-out how good of a season it was for 90-some percent of it but it left even more questions to be answered than if they had been swept in single-digit fashion. Unfortunately, we won't get so much as a whiff of whether they can take the next step for a full year. But if that choice is between having to wait a year for another Conference Final appearance or the draft lottery and picks, the current predicament is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000x more desirable!

Meanwhile, at the Diamond, Minnesota showed further signs of recovery from the mid-May swoon, taking three of four from KC and a pair off Houston.

If you're like me you are less interested in the club this year because of the botched TV decision and the "right-sizing" but they are now the biggest story in the region until Training Camp so can't just write them off.

Much more on the fringe, Minnesota's women took the inaugural PWHL title over Boston in the best-of-5 series. Opinions aside about Hockey in May & June, they are in the history book of the League for as long as it lasts. Considering the champion-starved reality for the state, it shouldn't just be brushed aside!

Another significant week for the region's sports scene!
