The week began with Post 2 advancing all the way from the field of 96 to the championship of the Gopher Classic before being bested by Lincoln-based Carpetland.
It's just the latest in this Summer's displays of quality execution on the diamond by local teams, but was not the only one this week!

The Fargo Little League team survived a best-of-three clash with West Fargo to make the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis again!
They will play South Dakota's winner at 3 PM local time, August 2nd

Those boys got another example to learn from and try to exceed as NDSU pitcher Joey Danielson was drafted by Texas Tuesday!

Softball also came through in a major way as Fargo's team earned a spot at their Little League regional, a first for the state!

With a month of good Summer left, Winter scheduling news began to leak with Moorhead State being involved in the two most significant announcements - the women will be heading to Hawaii in November and the men will visit the SHAC for an exhibition October 23rd!

Late Spring also took some shape as the Summit League announced a change to the tournament schedule, with the championships set to now happen on Sunday.
Personally, I think Saturday would be even better for attracting fans but logistically that would be challenging because they will already be one of the earliest finishers and moving everything even one day earlier to accommodate Saturday would condense the schedule even more.

With multiple-more noteworthy developments, the most significant could be the commitment by Sheyenne lineman Kade Pietrzak to Nebraska.
Three years in a row having a player from the region join the B1G is a trend, whether it reaches number four or not. The opportunity for him and his subsequent decision magnify the bullseye that every competitor was already aiming for and could lead to a veritable tidal wave of future college players to come five, 10, even more years down the line. It could already be said that the flow of athletes into the next level is torrential but these three players will only increase the amount and the levels that they succeed in reaching!
