A week after securing the first trip to Williamsport from North Dakota, the Little League boys kept the opening game with Texas competitive but the bats weren't able to match what the pitchers were able to achieve so they found themselves in the losers side of the bracket. Two nights later the pitching was once again good enough for the boys to extend their stay in PA but the plate appearances were no more successful.
With the benefit of time, the way the season ended will become a footnote to what the team was able to accomplish. They are now the bar for teams of the future to equal & surpass!

Back in the RRV, football season got going with week "0"
Of the initial results, North & Kindred had the most resounding of results, shutting out Horace & Central Cass respectively. The Hawks are still very much a fledgling program but a 42-rip win on any team in AA is noteworthy!

The week also included the Purple taking the next step toward week 1 with joint practices and the second game against Tennessee. Due to technical difficulties only half the game was viewed but in that time it was clear that non-starting members of the defense continue to be lacking while the offense under Nick Mullens left plenty to be desired. With Ty Chandler being the only offensive player to see time last night who could be counted on with some regularity before injuries happen, it's understandable that the offense would not be at peak performance.
The new scheme & every available player being dispatched will help some against Tampa & beyond but the main lesson from the performance Saturday evening is that the defense is still on track to be the team's achilles heel.

Similar struggles have not surfaced for Anthony Edwards during Team USA's run of exhibition games, culminating in a 34-point performance against Germany in Abu Dhabi, Sunday. Steve Kerr put the cherry on top, declaring Edwards "unquestionably the guy" which is great news for the team at the World Cup, next year's Olympics & most importantly, Minnesota!
