The Week That Was

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With 12 games to go in the regular season Minnesota holds a comfortable lead in the Central division and astoundingly still has a shot to win 90 games. To hit that mark they would have to play at a one-loss pace the rest of the way so it's all-but impossible. That the possibility exists though is a testament to how well the pitching has done for the duration of the season & how much the offense has improved during the second half.

No one is more responsible for the surge at the plate than Royce Lewis, who hit his fourth grand slam of the season Friday.

It's almost enough to build confidence that they won't get swept out of the postseason!

Their football counterparts are on the other end of the spectrum as they dropped their second game of the season to Philadelphia, Thursday. From game 1 to 2 they were markedly better but a sieve-like run defense & inability to avoid turnovers on offense created too big of an advantage for the Conference Champs.

Like the baseball team, the Purple had member of the team achieve a rare milestone as Justin Jefferson joined Randy Moss as only the second receiver in League history to eclipse 5,000 yards before turning 25! (baby 🐐)

It's a wins & losses business but with what they showed in Philadelphia, the panic button can remain unpressed.

Football on the home front was much less of a mixed bag with NDSU & Moorhead State both winning big in their third games of the season!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One level lower, Shanley affirmed for the fourth time that they are the favorites to make & take the Dome with a win over #2 Sheyenne!

Just up the road, South bounced back from their own experience with the Deacons to beat Devils Lake 70 - 6!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As one of only two undefeated teams in the state, Shanley also has a favorite in boys soccer. In their last home match of the regular season they notched a touchdown against Grand Forks Central while the keeper shut the Knights out.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Before it all, Griffin Crosa was named Valley Special Teams Player of the Week.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The NDSU women's golf team also made their mark to start the week, shooting the second-lowest round in program history out in Utah!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another shining week for the Fargo area sports scene!
