After being a likelihood for most of September the Boys of Summer secured their spot as the division champs with an 8 - 6 win over Anaheim Friday. With six games to go, including the final three in Denver, they've got a decent runway to have their main guys in the order they want them while having the freedom to add in an extra day or two of rest for key members of the lineup. With the way that the football team has started they have the chance to be the top sports story in the region well into October.
Whether they will actually achieve that is less easy to say.

Before dropping their third game of the season the Purple secured the services of Dalton Risner to help the interior of the OL & Cam Akers from LA for depth at running back. Neither was included against San Diego but now that their backs are even more firmly pressed to the wall, all hands will be on deck for Carolina next Sunday.

Concordia's team kept their offense firing with a 49-spot on St. Scholastica, leading 42 - 3 after three quarters! They will need all of it with undefeated Carleton on the horizon but scoring 26 or more for the fourth-straight game would put them on the radar of the national voters!
