The fourth week of the season concluded with Moorhead State ahead of it's second ranked conference rival! With the outcome Saturday against Augustana they have firmly established themselves as enigmas that could be regarded among the best in D2. Wayne State has made it to 3-1 in the early going so they are quality as well but losing by 27 will remain a stain on the Dragons schedule. With Winona and Mankato over the next two weeks they've got the chance to steady how they are perceived or may show that they are giant killers without the benefit of an extended season.
Even if the latter proves to be the reality they will have another great memory to reflect on after the season.

NDSU also made positive memories during their trip to central Illinois!

Concordia made it 3/3 as they shutout St. Scholastica to coronate homecoming!

And of course the Vikings remained unbeaten following their stop in Green Bay

The Cobber women's soccer team also merits mention as they earned their sixth victory in eight matches. With eight to go they are nearly assured of improving upon the 8-6-4 record from last Fall. If and when they do it would go down as back-to-back seasons above .500 for the first time since 2014/2015!

Reagan Baesler was named the Peak Performer of the Week for women's cross country.

Which just leaves the most shocking development of the week.
Karl-Anthony Towns has been one of the most polarizing stars in Minnesota for much of his time. He complained a lot, he would commit infuriating fouls but through all the dysfunction around him, he rarely complained and he never did the basketball thing of forcing his way off the roster.
Now that the team is in the best position it has ever been in to succeed for several years he's a victim of the salary cap.
The package that Tim Connelly is supposedly getting in return will make the roster even deeper this season and will multiply flexibility once the team transitions from Gobert/Conley to Edwards and others.
Wish him nothing but the best and can hardly wait to see the tribute December 19 when NYK comes to Minneapolis!

Honorable mention: The women's basketball team advanced to the semi-finals against Connecticut but were edged in the opener of the best-of-five series.
Dishonorable mention: The baseball team's collapse finally concluded as they were eliminated from postseason contention. Since they were never serious about competing this season it was a fitting end.
