Winter came on like a fast break and means we're that much closer to everything that the hardwood will include! Every season has it's own flavor but with new additions to the local scene & significant turnover from last year to this one the 2022/2023 season will be a ride all it's own.
In preparation for the first games, this edition comes courtesy of coach Bart Manson talking about Davies boys hoops.
Before looking ahead, what are the best memories from last season?
We had a great season last year, finishing 24-3 and winning the Regular Season EDC Title & the EDC Tournament Title.
Did your team participate in any camps this past Summer? If so, how did your team benefit from that?
We have a lot of workouts during the summer at Davies High School. We also combine those workouts with about 5 or 6 team camps that we play in too. Both of those give kids opportunities to grow as a player during the summer months.
Have you already had players in the gym working on their game this Fall?
We start having open gyms after Labor Day. Players that are not in a fall sport have the opportunity to come into the gym and work on some things during those months before the season starts.
To go along with Mason Klabo, Ray Brown & Max Froslie, Rogers James, Zach Livingston, Xavier Ames & Dan Yorke have been identified as players to watch in the region, how have you seen them improve? How might each of them continue to progress?
As a coach it is very exciting to watch kids grow over the years. I believe that our players continue to get better every year because we have such a competitive program. That competition drives kids to get better in the offseason. With as consistently good as your program has been, what would make the upcoming season a successful one?
We just need to continue to do the things that make us successful. We need to show up everyday and have the attitude that we want to be coached and want to get better everyday. There's been a lot of talk about the proposed three-class division. Do you have a comment about that?
I tell everyone that Davies is really not affected by the 3 class system with us being in the top class. Whatever benefits ND basketball is what I’m for!
