The Week

Concordia, MSUM and NDSU also all made waves on the football field, Saturday.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It didn't end there as Fargo North's path to the AA state title got clearer to project with Central steam-rolling #2 South in the quarterfinals. The next level up Shanley & Sheyenne cruised into the semi-finals and will host Davies & Minot Friday night.

It was also a great week on the cross country courses. Moorhead got the first run as their boys qualified for the state meet by taking runner-up. Their girls team finished third, one shy of advancing, but Ava Dunnigan was good enough to qualify.

North's Owen Sondag was the lone state winner from the area but Kindred's Keaton Olson finished second in the boys B run while Casselton's Mallory DeVries was third for the girls group.

Sondag was named Senior of the Year along with Olson & Kindred's coach Josh Roberts.

10 games into the season and the Force have yet to lose. They were already the lone unbeaten team but have etched themselves into their own record book for the longest winning streak. If it extends past the next two weeks of mixed-venue skates then they will have a fair chance to keep it going indefinitely!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the ice to the grass, NDSU's Abby Wilkinson was named Summit League Keeper of the Year.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And before it all, the Wolves added another giant deal to their payroll, locking-up Jaden McDaniels on a five-year deal. It was a formality that they would get the deal done but now that pen met paper the eventuality of salary dumping to avoid the new guidelines will be the top topic in the offseason.

For now though, all the guys can enjoy their robust bank accounts & go play to prove they are deserving of them. That didn't happen so much in the season opener but they showed improvement against a short-handed Miami squad Saturday so game five or 10 should be given before making many big judgments about the team.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

That's all for now though. It was another shining week for the Fargo area sports scene!
