The 2020 Game

All or Nothing

Pass or Fail

Right or Wrong

Good or Bad

Pass or Punt

Get it?

Good.

Even with a one-off such as we had today, the same treatment is getting applied.

The Dome buzzed again.

Sure it wasn't the typical roar associated with a home game but the crowd could be heard and the players made plenty of noise in their own ways.

While I predicted a blowout the way that the game went was even better. The team faced adversity, found an opponent that was up to their challenge and as true champions do, they did what it took to finish with the win.

As many of the current stalwarts were given their due recognition, there was no mistaking that the future main players on the team were stepping into the spotlight. Two prime examples today were Braylon Henderson & Hunter Luepke. The redshirt freshman from Wylie, Texas not only finished with the most receiving yards today, he also proved to be the best of their options as a returner. And then there's the Fullback from Spencer, WI who was nearly unstoppable as a runner or receiver. It wasn't a gaudy stats day for anyone other than Trey Lance as a runner but if you saw those two work then you know that I'm not overstating it.

What about the defense?

Code Green as a whole had an average day.

And average doesn't meet the criteria anymore.

But Jayden Price's game-sealing interception was a great bow to tie it up with. Since he's also only a sophomore this will not be the last time his name mentioned here & many other places!

I mentioned the quarterback's success as a runner, but for most of the afternoon he struggled to be the guy that he was for pretty much all 16 games last Fall. Whether it was because of the buzz that's been hounding him or that it was his first game action in nearly 10 months or a mix of those & other factors we'll never know. But with all eyes on him, he came through with his worst game.

It didn't help that his most talented receiving option had a wholly forgettable day. 2 receptions, 8 yards - Christian Watson hasn't been that ineffective since he arrived in Fargo.

But thanks to all of the other average afternoons, those are the only two that fit in here. All things considered, that's pretty impressive!
