But true to the process that they began with free agency, they had an internal mandate to make the offensive line as strong as possible.

If he goes on to have an eight+ year long career as at least a top backup then the decision will be defensible. If he exceeds that then the choice will be validated.

That's not the provocative message you may get elsewhere but it's a meat & potatoes decision as the organization continues to move toward the services of JJ McCarthy.

Not ecstatic about it but not mad either. I mean, the dude did switch positions mid-season for a championship winning team so he deserves the opportunity to get some practices in before drawing more conclusions!
