WW: Same Old Stuff

If you've followed along on any of the various Purple Bizon platforms you may have noticed that I am no fan of the Minnesota Twins owners. For all the failures of the Timberwolves, Wild & Vikings both on the team side and from ownership down, none compare to the Twins' approach.

During a large portion of the Ron Gardenhire era the team was able to be a playoff team more often than not but with little success once in the second season. The penny pinching approach finally wore the fabric out to the point that it couldn't be sustained to even that level and with the exception of the single postseason game against the Yankees, the last decade of Major League Baseball in Minnesota has been a total disaster. I often had tuned them out before June had concluded, if not before it even started. It was horrendous.

Then, a year and a half ago, the ownership brought in some new blood to run the team. The first season included many bargain bin signings but that blend of players did not produce a better result.

Fast forward to this past Spring and the same approach was taken. I was skeptical and could not have been more wrong about the offense that was put together. Which is exactly where the problem again rears it's head.

You may have missed the fact that today was the last possible day for trades to take place between franchises. Despite years of clamoring for pitching to be brought aboard. Despite every single blogger and beat writer saying that the needed to be aggressive. DESPITE HAVING ONE OF THE BEST OFFENSE'S IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE, THE TEAM DID NOTHING!!!

Nothing of serious merit at least. They did in fact sign two relief pitchers but two relievers is not the approach of a team looking to win a championship. It's not the approach of a team even trying to make the championship series or even to just make the final four.

They spit on each and every one of us who has bought tickets, has stayed up for all the West Coast & super late night game's, has willingly reinvested in the product after a decade of ineptitude. They had every chance to make a statement, to do something that all these franchise's claim to be going after, but when push came to shove, it was more of the same old crap from this team.

Mark it down, the 2019 Minnesota Twins will go down in history as the most worthless, record setting bunch in the history of the Majors. The cause and effect of what happened today is that the Twins will once again be a one series and done team in the postseason, at best. The team's that did have the fortitude to bring in the right kind of players, most notably the Houston Astros, will not suffer the same fate. I've already turned the pages and want the Stros to win the whole thing just to show up team's like the Twins but more than that, it's now Football season and the Purple will move into center stage. I fully intend to not watch another Twins game this season because they refuse to do right by the fans for the sake of prospects that aren't needed right now and may never do anything in the Majors even close to what this year's team has done and will continue to do.

For shame!
